FYI: I’ve got a summer vacation coming up and I’m going to produce a movie with high quality content in small vlog installments.
Eric Miller, a teaching colleague, challenged his students to come up with Darth Tater puns. They have had me in stitches all day. My favorites are: “I am your farmer”, “Trust your peelings”, “Luke Frywalker”, “If only you knew the power of the deep fried”, and “May the forks be with you.” Go check them out. Link.
Update: Mr. Miller got boingboinged!

Ooh and I found this thing going on at sixspace down in LA. Link via the Make Blog.
Update: Interesting note about having to buy tons of rubik’s cubes for Invader’s RUBIKCUBISM show at sixspace on art.blogging.la.

My students are getting ready to start their final independent projects in my class and I’m going to give them the option of making isometric pixel art. I’m going to send them to Pixelfreak, Rhysd’s tutorial , and Mark’s tutorial and then see what they can come up with in mspaint.
I’m testing this vlog post for the Earth Sanctuary Vlog that will be coming out soon. I’ve spent about an hour testing different settings but I’m stuck.
I’m having a problem with keyframes. What are they used for? I’m noticing that the picture throbs at each keyframe and I don’t like that. I’m using imovie and exporting with QT7.
I’ve got it set up with a keyframe every 15 frames and it’s 15 fps and it is set togo at 600 kbits/sec. There is a throb every second because of the keyframe. When I set it at a keyframe every 5 frames there was throbbing 3 times a second that looked really bad.
How do I get rid of the throb?
Also, I’m trying to set up a good workflow for getting from imovie to a wmv output. Anyone have a good way of doing that? I’ve got cleaner6, but there are so many options, it’s a little confusing.
On top of that, does the feedburner rss feed work?
Update: I’ve got the throbbing thing figured out, I’m going to switch to automatic keyframes or one every 100 frames. The rss feed appears to work. I still need to fuss with wmv stuff, but I’ve gotten a good start on my vlogging education over at the yahoo videoblogging group.

I’m am so excited about the whole vlog thing. With what Rocketboom is doing, we are seeing a whole new way of seeing the news. I love seeing stuff about real people in real places telling their story. The revolution may not be televised, but it might be vlogged.
I have two vlog projects going. I have been putting the finishing touches on a set of short one minute videos for Earth Sanctuary that will give people a feel for what it’s like. We are going to put them out there as a vlog and release a new one every week, complete with RSS 2.0 feeds with media enclosures. I’m currently making up a cool intro and outro to put at the beginning and ending of each video.
Then I am going to be spending a good chunk of my summer developing a vlogging component for this website focusing on interviews with Seattle artists, gallerists, and the people who move and shake in the Seattle art world.
Video Blogging Test Part 1
All Right, here is the first vlog test here. I made this video to show to my students to introduce the project of making daruma dolls. I’m having some problems getting it to stream so that it will show the first part as it is downloading.
