I’ve been working on a series of photos about horses this year. I’m working with an 4×5 camera that I’ve heavily modified. I got the hacksaw out last night to make the camera do what I wanted to do.
This is a polaroid and I was happy enough with it that I went out and bought some type 55 pos/neg film to shoot with. It’s expensive stuff at about $3.50 a shot, but it’s shots like this that remind me that I’m an artist.
I don’t know if I’ve mentioned it on this blog, but I actually have a show up at my favorite restaurant, the Schezuan Noodle Bowl on 8th and Kind in the International District of some of my horse photo collages.
I’ve been working on a horse photo for one minute. I’m working with a webcam, QuickTime Pro and ImageWell. I made the camera do what I wanted with a few clicks of a button.

WOW! Amazing shot. Worth the $3.50. I wish I had a camera like that. A friend of mine has an old polaroid and I love playing with it. All the pictures have a great ethereal quality to them - but nothing like that. What did you do with the hacksaw?
I’ll have to do lunch at the Noodle Bowl sometime soon and check out the show!
I put a plastic lens from a diana on the 4×5 and in order to make the focal distance shorter, I had to cut the rails.
If you go to the noodle bowl and want to get what I get every time, order the “13.70.” It’s a feast for two people!
a beautiful dream.
Wow! That is awesome! Reminds me of some Breyer horse model photos I took a few years back, except yours are 100 times better, and mine were of their shadows.
I’ve enjoyed looking at your photography!
i glanced through these and what a nice style-how about a trail ride on the live variety of equus sometime?
